OLPS will escort you through the Licensed Paralegal application process.
One-on-one
One-on-one guidance throughout the Oregon State Bar’s application process. This escort service includes:
- Assistance with completing the Application for Admission as a Licensed Paralegal.
- Identification and review of work product applicable to the applicant’s portfolio demonstrating their learning, knowledge, and ability.
- Guidance and review of accompanying portfolio cover forms.
- Preparation for the Oregon State Bar LP Rule 11 entry exam.
- 17 hours of professional education courses necessary to obtain licensure. The 20 hours of professional education courses are approved by the Oregon State Bar’s Admissions Department ($1,000 value).
- Instruction on how to adequately bill and make money for your firm.
- Teach your employer how to effectively use you in your new role as a Licensed Paralegal.
17 Hours of CLE Credit
For those individuals navigating through the application process on their own, but still need to complete the necessary hours of professional education for licensure with an endorsement in family law, 0.5 hour CLEs can be purchased for $25.00 each. OLPS has obtained Oregon State Bar Admissions Department approval on all CLEs available for purchase. The 17 hours of CLE credits include:
- One hour on identifying scope-of-license issues and practical identification of mandatory referral scenarios.
- One hour on limited scope law practice management skills for newly licensed paraprofessionals.
- One hour on mental health/substance abuse in the legal profession.
- One hour on IOLTA account administration.
- Two hours on legal ethics for Licensed Paralegals.
- Two hours on Oregon Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Twelve hours on family law subject matters, including:
- Subpoenas
- Depositions
- Mediation
- Discovery
- Petitions
- Response Times and Deadlines
- Default
- Show Cause Motions
- Status Quo
- Child Support
Already a Licensed Paralegal?
For active licensed paralegals with family law endorsements and attorneys, our 0.5 hour CLEs can be purchased for $25.00 each and 1 hour CLEs can be purchased for $50 each.
