When the Oregon State Bar launched their Licensed Paralegal application process in the summer of 2023, Jody Stahancyk understood the importance of advancing the careers of her employees qualified to become Licensed Paralegals. With the help of Mitchel Cunningham, they turned nine Stahancyk, Kent & Hook employees into Licensed Paralegals. These nine trailblazers were part of the very first cohort of Licensed Paralegals, which consisted of ten total individuals.
Jody and Mitchel realized early on that there would be no help or guidance available as this was the first time anyone had the opportunity to become a Licensed Paralegal. This realization resulted in the creation of a service that turned nine qualified individuals into Licensed Paralegals with family law endorsements.
Oregon Licensed Paralegals (OLP) is designed to assist qualified individuals who seek licensure with an endorsement in family law. From one-on-one guidance in application completion, teaching 20 hours of professional education courses, and preparation for the LP Rule 11 Entry Examination, OLP is prepared to help you become a Licensed Paralegal.

Jody Stahancyk
Jody is the most famous family law lawyer in Oregon. Known as the Opinionated Lawyer. She founded and drove her law firm Stahancyk, Kent & Hook for 30 years. Jody’s energy and entrepreneurial spirit are unmatched. She recently shifted from running a law firm to promoting the Oregon Licensed Paralegal service.
Mitchel Cunningham
Mitchel is a Licensed Paralegal and an active member of the Oregon State Bar. He was a founding member of the very first Licensed Paralegal cohort. Mitchel works with Jody to design the curriculum and provides firsthand advice based off of his own experience.
